We probably should stop putting any more features into the release and focus strictly on bug fixes, testing, and things related to builds.  We thus would create a release branch for this work very soon.  We're overdue for a release anyways.

As for getting the release done quickly, it is going to take some time no matter what we do to stabilize it.
