Given the long time it took to reach him the last time I think we should
probably calculate a bit more. However, with the RC cycle being two
weeks, I think my approach of using RC2 is reasonable.

I don’t know who it was, but somewhere on the tracker we have a
recommendation for a forum to post a release announcement to. Back then
we were doing the first betas, which I deemed too early for such an
announcement, but we should maybe dig it out again. I think it was ciro
who posted it, but I’m not entirely sure.
I remember something similar has been posted on the old SMC forum,
probably in the beta announcement thread. I’ll review that one again.
