alexandria currently has 512 MiB of RAM, and 2 GiB of Swap. It has a 60
GiB hard disk and a virtual processor that /proc/cpuinfo classifies as a
2,5 GHz dual-core Intel i7 CPU. I don’t know how reliable /proc/cpuinfo
is on an OpenVZ machine. Please login on alexandria and check yourself
for anything else you need to know about the current setup.

Currently, it occasionally swaps, but not much. A rather quiet Redmine
on my private server consumes 363 MiB of *virtual* memory, i.e. the real
memory usage is lower due to Linux’ optimistic memory allocation
approach (Linux just pretends it allocated enough memory when malloc(3)
returns; instead of failing with ENOMEM, it usually starts the OOM
killer).

We don’t have to go with Redmine of course, I just used this as an
example because I’m familiar with it. What we use will be determined by
some discussion. Judging from the above, I think alexandria would be
capable of running Redmine in the current situation, but then it really
runs on its limit. 1024 MiB of RAM would be better.

I just don’t want to make us seem greedy, given that all of this is
granted to us for free.
