Not mean to be rude, but you had time enough to convince others of your
opinion and thus influence the result of the vote; the vote was
announced here, and a call for votes was published here later as well,
so there were at least two moments where you could have noticed that we
are going to vote on the topic. So complaining now that everything is
over after roughly a month comes definitely too late. Next time, if you
have a strong opinion on a topic, please take the time to lay it down
before the voting deadline passes. Be assured that we as the TSC team do
read what our users and contributors write, and it influences how we
proceed.
While we strive to achieve a comprompise on all topics, there are some
topics — like this one — where this is not possible. That’s why we have
voting procedures in place. If you take a look at the discussion in the
tracker, you’ll notice that it was pretty much impossible to get
everyone agree on some name. Thus we decided by a majority voting, and
the voting results still reflect that not everyone was of the same
opinion.
And just to make the point clear. I voted against renaming and I fully
agree with your view of “political correctness”. The majority decided
otherwise based on the procedures I have accepted earlier, so I respect
this decision.
Vale,
Quintus
