We actually do want to know what non-members think, since it may affect our own opinions.  Only core team members can vote, however, in order to avoid confusing situations where any number of people could pop in for any vote.

You've actually submitted a good amount of artwork on the forums, @skarfester.  Once we start getting it committed, we can see how many commits you then have.  If I remember correctly, 5 commits creates an automatic nomination for your core team membership.  If you don't quite have enough commits, you'll probably be close.  With team membership you can vote.  I am sorry for the delays that resulted in committing your artwork.
