Hi,
first off: Everyone, please don't top-post. Quote what you reply to.

I can configure the domain to be resolved with different
nameservers. Technically, this means that the NS records for the domain
are changed. This is possible with the current registry (Domainfactory),
but to replace the NS records on the 2nd level domain they require to
specify at least two nameservers with different IPv4 addresses. For 3rd
level and lower, there is no such restriction.
So if you give me two IPv4 addresses, this would be perfectly possible.
However, the problem the libtiff people experienced may well happen to
us as well. I promise that if I ever leave the project voluntaryly I
will not just disappear, but properly organise the domain(s) to be
transferred to whomever assumes the project lead's position, but of
course one cannot foresee the future. That's one of the reasons why on
the long term I would like to have a nonprofit organisation for TSC that
can be the legal body for all of this, but that requires at least seven
active people (§56 of the German Civil Code) and enough money to pay a
tax advisor, both of which we currently do not have.
Personally, I am not that worried that xet7 suddenly disappears and the
domains gets lost. Someone has to own it, and whether that's me or xet7
does not matter that much.

TSC does currently not have a lot of money available (just look at last
quarter's financial report). Until this changes, I am against purchasing
the .org domain, unless someone volunteers to pay for it.

Currently, only Sydney keeps backups, but at least they're made
automatically. Sydney, how much space do the backups currently use?

Thank you for your efforts. It is nice that we have someone like you who
can take care of it.

Hosting the mailinglist itself. :-)
